About me

I am Dan Chissick, I live and love BI (Business Intelligence), and I have been doing so since 1995.

Currently I am employed as BI Team Leader at Naya Technologies (Israel), a subsidiary of EPAM Systems (USA).

I studied Information Systems at school, back in the eighties, and graduated with an M.A. in Mathematics from the Technion. Having found a job as a programmer, I was exposed to BI within my first year (a story which will be told in a separate blog post), and never looked back. My career has included only 3 employers: for 10 years, 7, and 11 (and counting), and I have no regrets about that. During this time I completed an MBA from the University of London, but I have never participated in any formal education or courses in Computer Science or related subjects.

My current position involves leading a team of BI developers and analysts, consulting for various customers, pre-sales, teaching (and writing) courses at Naya College, designing BI architectures, keeping up to date with new technologies, and more. Naya and Epam are Tableau Partners, so much of my work involves Tableau, and that is the main focus of this blog.

I started using Tableau in 2015, and it was almost love at first sight. I am now a Tableau Ambassador (3rd year), I have passed all possible Tableau certifications, have spoken at Tableau Conference 2024 and Datafam 2024, judged Iron Viz qualification, and assisted in revising Tableau certification exams. Much of my knowledge comes from working with almost 100 different customers over the years, but also from my own dabbling in Tableau Public.

My other great love is the sport of Orienteering, and I have a blog about that as well.
